“Hmayil”, inspired by an ancient trouvaille- jewelry founded in Hakobavanq (v. Qolatak, formerly known as Nerqin Khachen), a 9th century monastery in Artsakh.
Hmayils (amulets) have been widespread all over the world since ancient times and are still very common among many nations.
One undeniable fact about the origin of hmayils is that human fear lies at the core of their emergence. The word “hmayil” comes from the Parthian word meaning “blessed.”
Hmayils, like other valuable cultural elements created by the Armenian people, can be found in different parts of the world such as the British Museum in London, the University of Paris and others.
